A philanthropic and social impact investment fund supporting innovative solutions that advance climate resilience, health equity, and gender equality.

We drive transformative change by funding and partnering on solutions that protect and advance women’s health and rights across their lifecourse, in the face of climate change.

Mission

Our Purpose

Climate change is one of the greatest health threats of our time. Women, particularly those living in low- and middle-income countries, bear a disproportionate share of its impacts across their lifetime, exacerbating existing health and gender inequities. From heat-related pregnancy risks to climate-driven disruptions in primary, reproductive, and maternal care, the climate crisis is a growing public health emergency—one women bear disproportionately. These shocks further strain already fragile health systems, deepening existing gaps in access and equity.

Investing at the intersection of climate and women’s health is one of the most powerful, yet overlooked, opportunities of our time. Targeted action here delivers triple returns: strengthening health systems, advancing gender equity, and building climate resilience for generations to come. By funding innovative, evidence-based solutions and forging cross-sector collaborations, The Valerian Fund is helping shift the paradigm by ensuring women’s health and rights are recognized, resourced, and resilient in the face of a changing climate.

Why We Act

Our Focus

To protect and advance women’s health in the face of climate change, action must target the foundations of resilient health systems. The Valerian Fund focuses on three interconnected priorities:

Community Empowerment
Upholding the power and agency of local communities, particularly those most impacted by climate change and social injustice.

Valuing adaptability and the capacity to thrive in a changing world.

Collaboration
Recognizing the strength of partnerships and collective action to address the global climate crisis and gender inequality.
